Technology Transfer Advisory to Kenyan Government and the Private Sector

What do Spain and Kenya have in common?  Plenty of sunlight and bountiful agriculture.
Endowed with some of the strongest solar irradiation in Europe, Spain has been harvesting the energy of the sun for the agricultural sector for decades, allowing its domestic solar-for-productive use industry to flourish.

 

Aktivera partnered with the Kenyan Embassy in Spain and brought in Spanish SMEs to:
              • Identify and test the most applicable solar irrigation and water harvesting technologies across Spain
              • Outline a tech transfer pilot to Kenya, identifying partners, distribution, finance, metrics, entry and scale up pathways
              • Work with Spanish importers on alleviating bottlenecks for Kenyan horticultural and fruit exports
              • Design financing schemes for solar-for-productive use uptake from importers down the supply chain
              • Outline strategic capacity building in best agricultural practices and latest renewable energy technologies
